Feeling a Dog-No-Longer

Updated: Jul 26, 2022

Have you ever felt the brush of a dog-no-longer against your leg? The bounce of a gone-cat jump on the bed late at night? The feel of comfort, “knowing” you aren’t truly alone in the moment? This type of sensing seems to be a commonplace part of the human experience, yet rarely is it spoken aloud.

The pic above is part of a larger artwork depicting my spirit-soulmate, Neo. You can see the full picture here. Neo was the most amazing gift. My world shifted when his little horsey self entered, and again when he left. I wrote about him in my book, The Final Art-Down. He was my teacher, my companion, my heart-friend, and we had many adventures together, times I will treasure forever.

Grieving was difficult. Feeling his essence, his spirit around me was so very bittersweet. The artwork was a labour of love, an expression of connection that goes beyond the physical and into the realms of the soul. Art is part of my Nature.

In this instance, Nature + Art = Fun That Heals Hearts. This was the tagline for my home business, W.I.S.H. Studio back in 2009-2017. Thinking it might be time to dust that off, as I feel that love coming through the veil. Ah, Neo. I sense there are a few others with you today…
